In Genesis 12:10-20 we read of famine, lying, and a custom. In verse 10, "now there was a famine in the land," as "Abram went down to Egypt." Abram lies due to the famine and his journey to Egypt! What would we do if we had to go through famine? Lie?? What are you doing due to the US economy? Lying and cheating for more money? Lying to cover for a friend? Stop right now and ask God forgiveness, if you are?
Abram was afraid for his life also, due to the Egyptian custom! Lying is still wrong! There are times when the Bible is so blatantly honest about people, and this writer smiles! People have told this minister the people in the Bible were just like we are! They were on a journey with God and made mistakes, just like us! Lying is never right in God's eyes. This writer calls each one of us to get right with God, asking God forgiveness for our sins!
